Slip Resistance Testing
The HSE states "Floors need to
have enough grip for pedestrians to walk safely, but what does this
mean? Grip is measured as 'Coefficient of Friction'. For safe pedestrian
walking on the level this should be 0.36 or higher." It also says
"it's no good testing a clean and dry floor then expecting it to
be slip resistant in the wet."

Using a SlipAlert Meter to check the dynamic coefficient of friction
Whether you are responsible for operating in a Public Environment or
Workplace the management of floor surfaces is Key.
The only true way to assess the slipperiness of your floor surface
and monitor the effectiveness of your floor cleaning regime is by periodic
testing of your floors.
We provide:
Floor Safety Consultancy Services
We use calibrated equipment to take accurate measurements from your
floor surface area to project a comprehensive analysis of the Slip Resistance.
The projected results are collated to establish compliance to Health
and Safety Executive Guidelines and compliance within the Workplace
ACT. When tested periodically the results can determine effectiveness
of your cleaning regime and be used to assess when some floor surfaces
need refurbishment or replacement.

THE
Major
Cause of Accidents
Slips & Trips
|
"Slips and trips account
for over half of all reported injuries to members of the public.
Over a third of all major injuries reported
each year are caused as a result of a slip and trip (the single
most common cause of injuries at work).
These cost employers over £512 million
per year in lost production and other costs.
Legal actions brought as a result of an injury can be extremely
damaging to business, especially where the public are involved.
Insurance covers only a small proportion of the costs."
